This post was originally written and posted on January 7, 2019 on www.lifewithatrucker.com a blog I started for those were were dating/married/with an over the road trucker.

When Josh and I started dating last March, I started a journal of our journey.

It is full of entries about our first kiss, my first ride in the truck, special dates, mountain biking and camping trips, my hopes and dreams for our future, and prayers for him and for us.

I intended to give him the journal the night before we got married. And while that is ACTUALLY what happened, I did start reading some of it to him as he drove a few months ago. It was a special way for us to remember the fun times – and even the hard times (some of those pages are smeared with tear stains).

At 2:52 AM on Saturday, December 29th (just hours after we said I Do) he sent me this text:

You need to do a blog post telling others to do a journal like this.

So here I am following the wishes of my now husband.

Ladies, write your fella a journal. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Ours was a simple grey dot grid journal I picked up from Michael’s for $6.00. (And the one I just started now that we’re married I received for free at my job).

Write about the good, the bad and even the ugly. Write quotes that make you think of him, write down song lyrics, make lists of the reasons you love him. Add photos, add ticket stubs. The memories are priceless. And will likely help him to feel a little closer to home while he is away.
